Donation Returned: what account to credit
As many churches do, we gave donations to other nonprofit organizations. One organization was involved in litigation over its financial practices. As a result, money that we have donated over the years has been returned to us. The simple thing seems to be to credit an income account.... But it's not...

Refund of Expense Error Over 2 years
We were overcharged double for two years on a maintenance agreement on our handicap elevator. (Checks were cut without knowledge of new agreement) We received a refund for the overcharge. Is it possible to correct expenses in the past so that there aren't zero expenses in the coming years. For examp...

Re: How Do You Reverse or Correct Asset Entry
Thanks John . . .Found the error back in Dec 2010 by running the report. Couple things added to error: reentering data to merge with previous system in 2010, since the youth pastor used his ATM person thought expenduture was for Youth Christmas party -so expense was posted to the youth and not food ...

Re: How Do You Reverse or Correct Asset Entry
Nevermind ran the activity to include previous year. That's where the "100.00 dollars" is, but the issue wasn't the 100.00 per se. I thought most of the money had been spent the previous year. The fund was for Christmas Food Boxes for the needy - over 600.00 was collected in 2010, but the system is ...

How Do You Reverse or Correct Asset Entry
It seems previous bookkeeper created asset/checking account entry for restricted fund without corresponding income entry. I do not do setup, but it seems this would be possible because an asset can be something other than cash. Money was actually posted in general fund checking and needs to be trans...

1 ministry, three incomes, two funds, one expense
The board hasn't been getting a clear picture of what is needed to run one of the ministries and I think we may need to add an expense account perhaps. We have a children's Bible club called AWANA. Unrestricted and Restricted money goes to operate the program. Registration money comes in as well. So...

Re: two funds, one expense, one check?
Nevermind, the bookkeeper figured it out [unbeknown to me -but glad she did :)] John, there are more levels in our system than the checking account. There are several "vitual checking accounts" before the actual check is written. Mission Gift Fund "Checking" - Income (restricted) Mission Gift - Expe...

two funds, one expense, one check?
When writing a check for a missionary, is it possible to record two sources of the income, post to one expense, and cut one check? We collected an offering for one of missionaries, another group wanted to use some of their funds for the missionary as well. So we entered the amount from the fund the ...

In House Payroll vs Outside Vendor (CA users)
Question in short : We are using v11, and using it to cut checks for employees now (1 FT senior pastor, 2 PT staff) , How easy is it for new bookkeeper to learn to comply with federal (form 941) and state PIT filing requirements? (We don't pay UI, SDI, or ETT) Does the risk of liability of fines fo...
