Designated Offering and Pastor's Salary
We have a member who designates a certain amount of their offering to be used to help pay the pastors salary. She does not do this every month. Instead, it may be 2 or 3 times per year. What is the best way to record this transaction. I am a bit confused since this is dealing with payroll as well as...

Pass thru Accounts Question
My church has a Pators Assistance committee. The money that they collect is used for things such as cry cleaning, car wash, home repair etc. The money is put in a seperate bank account, not a church-owned account. My question is this. How do I account for contributions that are given toward this fun...

1099's and Special Speakers
We had a speaker that visited our church several times in 2005 and was paid over $2000. I know that I am required to do a 1099 for him. He does not have a Tax ID though. Do I just leave it blank on the 1099, or do I need to get his SSN and put that on the form?

Setting Up a Credit Card
We have a credit card that has a large balance on it. Most of the balance came from, a transfer from an old credit card that the church had. This was done about 2 or 3 years ago and I don't have the transaction history. How do I set up the account in PCPLUS so that I can start tracking the credit ca...

Setting Up and Paying Mortgage
I would like to set up PC+ to track mortgage payments on our church building. I am fairly new to accounting, so I want to make sure that I am setting this up right. As I understand it: 1. The building would be an asset. Would there be a balance in the COA for this? 2. The mortgage is a liability. Th...

Would we have to do a fund transfer to the Benevolence and Pastoral accounts whenever money is received for t...

Strarting Over
We got PowerChurch Plus 8.5 late last August. We immediately started using it to record contributions. We started to input data from previous months, however this was never completed (we actually only input previous data for March) . We probably posted contributions twice, and posted AP payments 4 t...

1099 Question
I have a 2 part question. 1). I spoke with our church tax advisor and he said that we should keep the Pastor as a 1099 employee instead of a W-2 employee. My question is this: Should I set him up in the Payroll module, or hould I set him up as a vendor in the AP module? If I set him up in the Payrol...

When Paying the mortgage on the church building, what gets debited and credited?
Currently I would credit the checking account and debit the expense account (Mortgage Pmt.). What happens to the liability account (Mortgage Note)? Thanks for your help.

The ministries don't have any income. They basically will be alloted a budget from the monies that are in the General Checking Account. I want to keep things as simple as possible. Therefore I will not need to be very granular in seeing how the mony is used. For example if the Men's ministry hosted ...

Need Advice on Setting Up Funds
I'm new to PowerChurch and I'm in the process of setting up the Accounting Funds. My question is this: Our church has many different ministries (i.e Men's Ministry, 5 Cell Groups, Music Dept. with 4 Choirs, Kitchen Committee, etc.). We have 4 different checking accounts (General Operations account, ...
