ÿ (y with an umlaut)

Now why would we suddenly have every instance of the letter y pop up with an umlaut (ÿ)?

AFAIK ... Powerchurch uses the fonts that are on the computer, it does not specify any specific character set. Has someone changed the font and/or character set on that computer ??
