Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

Mac version

Post by jared52 »

I know I have seen the answer to this somewhere, but I cannot find it so I'll have to ask again.

We have PowerChurch on the main office computer and I just networked the other computers together and installed PC to each of them. Now, I have a Mac (I am the YP, of course I am supposed to be different!) Are there any plans on making a Mac version. I know this is dependent on FoxPro and I don't know where they stand on being Mac compliant, so I thought I would ask here.

There are no plans to produce a Mac version.

There are several programs out there that allow you to run Windows applications on a Mac. We haven't tested any of these, so they may not work, but it's an option to investigate.

To address that portion of it: Microsoft killed the Mac version of FoxPro shortly after they bought Fox Software (starting with FoxBASE+ it had been developed on Mac and then ported to Windows). IIRC, version 3.0 was the last version for the Mac, and it was killed as a product shortly after the release of 3.0. (I used v2.6, and they killed 3.0 before I could upgrade, so I migrated instead.)

As for running it under Virtual PC, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a high-end Mac. The performance of VPC was never excellent, but in the first update after MS bought Connectix, I've noticed a significant degradation in performance. I haven't tried the most recent update, yet, so maybe they undid whatever it was they screwed up with the last upgrade.
