Remote Desktop is M$'s 'borrowing' of Citrix technology. This allows multiple virtual sessions on the server. This does presuppose that you're using Window Server 2003, and have a static IP address, or can use one of the services that can allow you access to a ISP's DHCP assigned IP address.
We were running Windows Server 2003 at my previous location, but we didn't want to expose our internal network to allow remote logons through our firewall. GoToMyPC will connect without having to change anything in the firewall, doesn't need a static iP, and the system is completely invisible to the 'outside' world.
