V9 problem with Excel reports

When I try to "save as" an Account Activity report to Excel 2002, the debit and credit information seems to get mixed up. It is not even consistent from report to report, sometimes it goes into debits, sometimes into credits. Am I doing something wrong or is this a flaw in Version 9?
For now I have resorted to using a calculator to add up some information.
