The most ridiculous info missing from profiles

I can't understand why "grade" is not a field in profiles. This seems like a basic piece of information for any database working with kids.

I see that PCP has kind of used skills for grades, but that requires one more step, one more skill entered, plus...lets face it...it is confusing having skills used for so many things.

Am I missing something, why is this critical piece of information missing?

There are 10 user defined code fields for profiles. You can easily use one of these fields to record a persons current grade. One thing we have seen people do is track the graduation year. By doing this there is nothing to update when the next school year starts.

Setting up this type of information in Activities & Skills will make it much easier to maintain. There is functionality built in to Activities & Skills to easily move people from one activity to another, which will need to happen every year. Setting this up as a field somewhere on the Personal Profiles will mean that you have to go into each person at the beginning of each school year and manually move them up to the next grade.

I am not sure how grade fits into a skill or activity. It makes training people to use the database that much more difficult.

The other problem is that now I have to have a separate skill for the fact that they are in a specific grade and one for the class they attend.

The list of skills is quite long already. I'd hope that in future versions that are trying to make the user's experience more pleasant, that things like grades could be put in a more appropriate place.

We group some grades together. For example, kinder & 1st grade attend the same class. So I have an activity called k/1. THe recent graduation changes help a little, but lets say I want to tun a report for all my kindergarten age students, I don't have a way of filtering out the 1st graders. So now, if I want to track my kinders, I need to set up a separate skill/activity for their grade.
