Deceased Profile and Widow marries again

Post by songbird331 »

In 11.5 version, I am trying to make a spouse (2) deceased and show the widow (1) re-married. The new bride already has an envelope number. How do I merge these two profiles? Each time I TRY, it shows up as Mr. so and so AND FAMILY. I can't get it to show as Mr. and Mrs. so and so. I feel like I'm doing it correctly, except for how it shows up on my contribution statement. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

OK ... Husband 1 - Mr. Jones, Husband 2 - Mr. Smith, the AND FAMILY can be turned off under the File -> Preferences -> Family Mailing List setup if you want, its a default. However, all you need to do is delete it from the line.

1. Create a new Mailing List Profile for Mr. & Mrs Smith - delete the AND FAMILY from the name line.
2. Create a personal profile for Mr. Smith
3. Move Mrs Jones to under that mailing list profile by finding her profile under the Mr. & Mrs Jones mailing list profile, then click the MOVE button at the top of her profile, then select the Mr & Mrs Smith profile from the list. That will move the profile and all her data. Update her profile with her new name (Smith) and the new anniversary date.
4. Back to Mr. Jones, mark his personal profile deceased, then mark his Mailing List profile deceased.

You're done.

Hope this helps.

OK, this is what I have...the two families are together. The 'Mrs.' has been moved to "Mr." profile. The 'first Mrs.' is shown Deceased in Mr.'s profile. In Contributions, both person's offerings have been put together (under Mr.'s envelope number). When I looked at File>Preferences>Family Mailing List setup, the AND FAMILY was NOT on. When I run their contribution statement it still shows Mr. Smith & Family. I can't figure out what step I'm actually missing.

Either 3 people in the family have the same envelope number, or one of the people that has the envelope number is directory sequence 3 or greater.

You are sooooo right. Thank you, now how do I change her sequence to '2'? I tried and it won't let me because the 'first wife' has it.

PowerChurch assumes that directory sequence 1 & 2 are the spouses. You will have to change the one with directory sequence 2 now to a higher number and then assign the directory sequence 2 to the wife. The directory sequence can be changed from the Maintain Personal Profiles screen.
