Is there any way to send a group email with individualized data like a mail merge? We are checking on the accuracy of address, phone and email information for a directory and hoped to do it mostly by email including each individual's date for their review. We may have to use snail mail.

Have you looked at the "Family Update Form" under the Mailing List Profile reports? It will create a PDF of the data you have under the Mailing List Profile and its associated Personal Profiles and email it to the family.
