Bulk e-mail failure V11

Post by ebeck »

We are finally attempting to use the bulk email feature of PC. On our first try, only 106 of the of the 306 emails sent actually got through. The rest came back in groups of 5 with an error message saying "4.7.0 Try again later, closing connection". These were all good valid email addresses. What went wrong? I am also wondering how I would possibly resend to only the people who didnt get the first one without the ones that got it the first time getting another, and without spending hours sorting though who did and didnt get it. HELP! Thanks! :wall:

Check with your ISP, many times they have a 'SPAM' detection feature where they will stop bulk emails sent form one location as it could be an infected machine sending SPAM. What they do is put the IP address in what is essentially a Time Out.

What you may want to do is set the Advanced Sending Options that can be found under the Preferences -> System Setup Options -> Email tab. You should set it up to send no more than 50 emails every 5 minutes.

This may take a while, but it will keep your ISP from putting that time out on your IP address.

As far as resending, what I usually do in this case, is add an apology for any duplicate email they may have received, that you are using a new method of contacting members, and there are some procedures that need to be worked out.

People are usually understanding in that way.
