I am trying to send group e-mail to 68 people, and get the following message for all of them:

not local host aol.com, not a gateway (obviously it changes for the different local host names, but that's the gist of the message)

Any ideas? This is in version 9, which I understood would no longer have authentication problems.

PowerChurch uses SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) to send emails. This is pretty much the standard. Almost all internet service providers use SMTP to send their mail. AOL is an exception to that rule. They have some sort of proprietary email system that is incompatible with PowerChurch group email. I've heard an unsubstantiated rumor that if you bug them, AOL can provide you with SMTP information to use, but it's unlikely that they would. This wouldn't have worked in 8.5 either.

About the only option is to get a webhosting account or something like that which gives you access to an SMTP server. Again, almost all do. This can be done very inexpensively (less than $5/mo) and sometimes even for free. Google for free webhost or free smtp.
