I have just installed Ver 9. I opened the quick menu for Personal Profiles and went to custom reports to see if they made the conversion okay. When I clicked on "Done" on custom reports, not only did the custom report screen go away, but the quick menu closed also. Has anyone else run into this problem?

There are some internal technical reasons for this, but when the custom reports are running, no other forms can be open on the screen at the same time. As part of their startup process, they close any open forms on the screen. The quick menus are just forms that have buttons to launch other functions, so they get closed when custom reports start as well.

Vanishing quick menus were not a problem in ver 8.5 and lower. Did the code change in ver 9?

You're right, I never noticed that before. The custom reports are modal forms which means only the active form can accept input and you cannot do anything else until you have closed it. Because of the modal nature we did not want it to look like you could switch to a data entry form while in the custom reports so we close all the open forms. In version 8.5 if you try to click on the quick menu while in custom reports nothing will happen and there is no visual clue that you cannot do that. This could be frustrating, I can see it but I can't click on it. If anything this would probably be considered a bug in version 8.5.

Certain other processes are going to close all open forms as well such as Backup & Restore, and Reindex.

Tip: We use PC+ for our own accounting and the person who does it has a macro that launches all the quick menus that she uses. She first did this in version 8, but you could do the same thing in 9 to reopen all you quick menus after exiting custom reports.[/i]

I had also set up macros for opening menus in 8.5. They didn't convert into 9. Were they supposed to or is that one of the things that don't convert. Not a big deal.

The closing quick menus is not a show-stopper either. However, I never had the problem of trying to use other menus while doing custom reports (I knew they wouldn't be active), so it is actually more annoying to me to have the quick menu close every time I leave custom reports. I'll get used to it. Thanks for your info.
