My pastor accidentally used the church's debit card. He wrote a check to the church to pay back the money. Do I need to record this? If so, how?

You will need to record it to reconcile your debit card bank account.

I would show the original purchase as if it was a normal purchase, even if it goes under misc. expenses.

Then show the check from the pastor as a CR to that same expense account.
