Enter Beginning Fund Balance

How do you change the beginning balance of a fund? Somehow, we deleted the fund balance account and now we cannot change the beginning fund balance. Because of this error, our trial balance is out of balance.

If you are in PowerChurch Plus Version 9, you will need to enter a journal entry to put in the Year Start Balance. In version 8.5 and prior the Year Start Balance can be modified in Accounting->Fund Accounting->Maintain Chart of Accounts, on the Information tab. Note that when this Year Start Balance field is changed, you have no record of what it was before.

We have version 9. How do you put the start of the year balance? Thanks.

If you upgraded to Version 9 from a previous version, the Year Start Balances would convert over, then any adjustments or modifications to the Year Start Balances would have to be done through journal entries. If you are new to the program, you will set up the Year Start Balances when you setup accounting and once the setup is complete, any adjustments or modifications would have to be done through journal entries.
