When we converted from V. 8.5 to 9.0 the system did not set up any temporarily or permanently restricted equity accounts. Only one equity account was set up--Fund Balance. I want to add some temporarily and permanently restricted accounts to show the correct segregation of the Fund Balance on the Balance Sheet. However, I have a question on the best way to set up the account structure.
Let's say I have three temporarily restricted accounts to add. I could set up the account structures in one of three ways:
01-3210-101
01-3211-102
01-3212-103
or...
01-3210-101
01-3210-102
01-3210-103
or...
01-3210-000
01-3211-000
01-3212-000
I would like to set them up using the 2nd structure (i.e. same 4-digit main account number, different subaccount numbers). Will doing so cause problems on any of the Fund Accounting reports (i.e. cause the balances to all "roll" into one amount)?

First a couple of definitions, account numbers are formatted like this:
FF-MMMM-SSS
FF = Fund Number
MMMM = Major account number
SSS = Sub account number
FF-MMMM-SSS = 9 Digit or Full account number
MMMM-SSS = 7 digit account number
PowerChurch treats all 7 digit account numbers as totally separate accounts. There are some exceptions/conventions though. The program considers major account numbers (MMMM) to be related. You see this in the check register because all 1110 accounts will be printed on a check register report regardless of the fund or sub account number.
I would give stong consideration to using sub accounts for temporary and permanent restrictions. If you use the same sub account number as the income and release accounts you can use the sub-account report to show all these accounts together. We also just added in one of the last maintenance releases the option to run the account acivity selecting accounts by sub account as well.
