We are moving our accounts from one bank to another but for a short time have accounts open at both banks. We have 2 payroll groups. One receives a check and the other is paid by direct deposit. We began writing the checks from the new bank but the direct deposit change is in process. Consequently, I need to post payroll to reflect both banks. I showed the new bank as the default for AP and PR, and changed those individuals receiving direct deposit on the "maintain item description" to reflect the old bank. When I tried to post payroll, it posted those with checks from the new bank but, on the direct deposit payees, I received an error message that "the bank accounts used for employee......are different," and the problem has to be resolved before they will post. Is there a solution to posting payroll to separate banks from the employer perspective?
We're using PC 11.1

Re: Payroll groups using different bank accounts
I am guessing that it is the same problem I had when I tried to combine two funds in one transaction (2 accounts in each fund, but the same transaction). I got a posting error that said something like, "you are trying to post to two funds on one transaction", and it would not post.
I had to separate the single transaction into two transactions.
Note: make a backup before you try this, in case it doesn't work.
You may be able to do the same.
1) You will have to write down the account numbers for the payroll associated with one bank (both the DB expense account and the CR bank account numbers).
2)Then, delete the two lines from the transaction in Fund Accounting / Modify Unposted Transactions, leaving two lines for the other payroll (CR bank and DB expense) in the original transaction.
3)Create a second transaction and add the information back in that you deleted from the first transaction.
4)Then try posting.
If this is correct, your payroll module is ok. The only modification you need to make is in Fund Accounting.
If it still does not post, restore your backup, and hope that someone else has a better idea.
