Help with transfers between checking and savings account

Post by kelliann »

I know this is a very basic question for ya'll but I am new to PC and was wondering if someone could explain to me, in the simplest of ways, how to post a transfer of money from a checking account to a savings account.

All accounts are already set up in the COA.

Thank you in advance!

If the two accounts are in the same accounting fund (the first two digits of the account number are the same) then the transaction would be as follows:

01-1110-000 Checking (credit) 500.00
01-1210-000 Savings (debit) 500.00

If the accounts are in two different funds, take a look at this article that explains using transfer accounts:

You'll find the Enter Transactions function under the Accounting -> Funds Accounting menu. If you look at the Knowledge Base article, under the title How to use transfer accounts you'll get a screen capture of the Enter Transactions screen dialog.

As far as a 'step by step' tutorial, here is a video that can lead you through the steps: https://www.powerchurch.com/support/kb. ... 367&type=3

It was created for version 10, but this hasn't changed in version 11, so it will provide you some good info.
