Payroll Taxes - Quarterly Fed vs. Monthly State
I am new to using the payroll. Our church is required to pay Quarterly Federal taxes, but Monthly State taxes. When I went to the tax reporting it asks if we file Federal taxes Quarterly or Monthly, but it doesn't ask about filing State taxes. What do I do?

The tax reporting module is setup to do the Federal Form 941s, basically it will figure out the 941 based on the payment schedule you enter.santoheath wrote:I am new to using the payroll. State taxes are a different issue. As each state does their things differently, there isn't a way to setup a single module to handle all the states, so basically, if you have your state tax tables setup properly for withholding, what you withhold is what you should have to remit.
And to figure out what you should remit, you'll have to go to either your state's online form (if any) or figure out the taxes using the state's manual form.
You can use the standard Payroll Item Summary Report which will list the all the totals for the income and tax withheld, along with other payroll stub information.

I thought that would be the case, but hoping for better. Thanks!

I understand, but its really hard to include all 50 states in the system. In Pennsylvania, the state online filing system is very good, and we find that we are usually to the penny with what we've withheld in Powerchurch.santoheath wrote:I thought that would be the case, but hoping for better.
