FICA Employer Liability Error

Post by jordan2k510 »

I just noticed that I had inadvertently changed Employer SSI and Medicare Items from Tax Table to Manual with no amount. I caught it after 1 payroll period had processed. I need to add to the accounts for 2217 SS and 2219 Medicare balance for the quarterly tax deposit. What is the JE to do this? Also, do I need to make a correction on the Payroll side as well?

I'm guessing that you caught this when you ran your quarterly reports. I'm guessing that you already ran your last payroll for this quarter and that it is too late to collect the payroll checks and void them.

If so, what I do is this. Calculate the deductions and add them to the next payroll, one time, even though it messes up your quarterly reports this quarter, and next quarter. :?

It is the "easiest" fix.

ok Thanks. The checks are fine since it was only the employer liability that was not taken.
