Income missing

Post by HCM »

I have just taken over the accounting for the organization and in January when the program was installed and started to be used, all of January was posted to contributions only. In February (I don't know how) the previous user was able to reconcile and closed the month. When I run an I&E report it shows no income for January. Is there anyway to add the income into January or open back up January?
Thanks

Did the person show the deposits for January ?? If so, there should have been a corresponding account (since PCPlus is double entry) showing the Credit.

No, I think they used the 01-3110 account to add income and then reconciled. I think that is why there is not any income for January in the Income and Expense reports.
Thanks

Ouch ... I would do a selected transactions report against that account to be sure, then you can reverse those transactions (unless you closed the months) and enter them properly.

If those months are closed, then you will need to manually reverse the transaction and then properly record the income in your current month, just remember that they will not show up in your bank statement but you'll need to clear them anyway. Use the note area of the transaction to fully explain what you are doing, so you have some sort of audit trail.

I thought that I would eventually just have to enter the income in a month that was not closed. I was just hoping that there would be a more cleaner fix. Hey, thanks for all your help.

FWIW .. in Powerchurch 10.4 on up, you can keep up to 18 months open, all you need to do is adjust the number of months in the Accounting Preferences.
