Electronic filing of 1099 Misc forms

Post by FirstMOBC »

The following errors are found when I electronically file 1099 forms. Does anyone know how I should go about correcting the error.
AcctNumber- This is a required field-Payee (Tin: 123456789, Name:John Doe)
Thank you Margaret :wall:

Margaret .. are you talking about the RECIPIENT Account Number ?? On a normal 1099-MISC that is supposedly an optional field; but isn't a TIN - the RECIPIENT's SSN or EIN ?? (TIN - Tax Identification Number)
If that is missing, you need to get that from the contractor.

This may help you: http://www.ehow.com/how_5657041_issue-1099-ssn.html

Their SSN's are on the 1099 form as Tax ID. Do not see any other location to enter the SSN.

If I am reading the error message correctly it would appear that the Church's TIN is missing. Make sure the Church TIN is in both the State and FED fields, which is on the first screen you see when you start the process.

Thank you Tom,
There is an Account Number which is optional only if you are mailing the form. When you file electroncally the field is required. I enter a 1 on the first 1099 and 2 on the second 1099 in the Account Number field. Thank you again
God Bless your day :D

Thanks for the feed back on this. I have yet to file my 1099's and this information will help me when I do.
