Vanco Direct Deposit Termination

Post by LarryF500 »

I have just received a notice from Vanco that they are terminating our Church's direct deposit contract effective 12/31/2016. It appears that Vanco is terminating their direct deposit service all together as they are stating that Direct Deposit is not their core business. They have also as of 09/01/2016 significantly increased their fees for EFT's which they now call "eChecks".

Does PowerChurch have any other partners besides Vanco for handling Direct Deposit and ACH type transactions/

By direct deposit, I'm assuming you mean payroll direct deposit, right? I suspect that this is as much of a surprise to the Powerchurch folks, as it is to you, as they probably just received the notice as you did today.

This is a recent change from Vanco and we only found out about it after the fact. We are working to make an update in the program to allow it to create ACH files directly, which should allow you to send transactions directly to your bank or any other payment processing service. It's still in process here but we hope to be able to release it soon.

Is there any update on the status of PowerChurch doing some kind of integration related to direct deposit of payroll?

Time is getting short and I need to know what my options are...

Thanks,

The Oct 19th MR included this:

Create NACHA file for direct deposit

This file can be used with your bank's ACH system to make the deposits.

I contacted our bank and they do accept NACHA files, but offered an alternative to use their secure on-line ACH template process since we are a small church and have less than 10 ACH transactions per month. The template holds all the banking info and only requires manual dollar input for each person. Entries for salaried employees where amounts change infrequently can be defaulted. An added benefit is that the template also allows expense reimbursements to be sent via ACH as well. I just did our month end payroll for November and it was really easy. :D

Yeah many banks are now offering that as an 'online bill paying' option, and it can be used for Direct Deposit for salaries. I know PNC offers this as part of their business package for $15 a month, plus 50 cents per transaction.
