How to change value on a fixed asset?

Post by Ron Ricklefs »

A recent full physical inventory of fixtures and furnishings created a valuation of $15,000 greater than the present listing. We wish to change this value of the given asset, but have no corresponding Cr/Db to counter. How can this be done? V9

Normally, to adjust a balance on an asset, you can offset your fund balance (or unrestricted net assets - they're the same). If you want to account for appreciation/depreciation, then you might want to discuss with an accountant how to handle that.
