Excess Income/Expenses

Post by spharris »

When I run a balance sheet for a specific Fund or a consolidated balance sheet in version 9 the amount shown for Excess Income/Expenses is not the profit/loss for the fund in question. In fact the Excess Income/Expense amount is the same for the past two years. It hasn't changed. Any ideas why this account is not keeping pace with net Income/Loss?

Prior to version 9, the excess income & expense was shown on the balance sheet. The excess income & expense (also known as the income closing account to accountants) was dropped from the balance sheet because of changes made where you can now have multiple equity accounts in one accounting fund. You can get the excess income/expense number from the bottom of income & expense statement.

The Excess Income & Expense account should have been deleted when you converted to version 9. But before version 9, a lot of people tried to get the system to do things it wasn't designed to do, like putting a balance into the excess income & expsense account. That might be the reason the account wasn't deleted when you converted. (If we had deleted it, you would have then been out of balance)

Income Closing Account

Thanks, I'll take a look at this account and see if I can determine the origin of the $400.00 that keeps showing up.
