Is it possible to create income and expense statements that will list all the income and expenses for accounts, based on transaction dates in the same month, regardless of the month they were "posted" to?

With the built-in income and expense statement in PowerChurch, you don't have the option of a date range, only the range of accounting months. But it does sound like you could get what you're looking for using the Custom Reports tool. For more information about Custom Reports, refer to the Reference Manual (Version 8 page 311, Version 7 page 287).
