Transferring $$ between bank accounts

How would I do the journal entries to transfer cash from one bank account to another via a check? I need to print a check from account 1110 and deposit it into account 1112 - both accounts belong to the same fund 02. In the case of the check transfer it seems I need an expense account to do the transfer and print the check??

In October we will be closing account 02-1112 so we will need to transfer any remaining balance into 02-1110. For a proper audit trail would I just make journal entry to debit one checking acct and credit the other?

In this case, since your two accounts are in the same fund, it would be appropriate to credit your old account and debit the new one to move the balance over to the new account.

If you were moving between funds, you would need to utilize either an income transfer account, or just do a normal run-of-the-mill check transaction, then in your other fund, do a deposit as you normally would.
