Fund Accounting Set-up

Post by conchur »

I seem to get only one shot through to set up my General Fund. Afterwards I will be setting up a Buildings and Equipment Fund.

Do I enter amounts for buildings and equipment in the General Fund Chart of Accounts? And then somehow get them to carry over to the B/E Fund?? Somehow change them from 01 to 02??

Or do I skip those accounts, complete the General Fund set-up, then go
to the Building and Equipment Fund Set up and do a new chart of accounts there??? In this case, I guess I'll have to go back to the General Fund later and delete all the 01 accounts that relate to building and equipment. Leaving the 02 accounts intact.

Thanks for your help

Go through the accounting setup assistant to set up your General Fund. However, do not input any amounts when prompted for the buildings and equipment accounts. Just click continue through these screens. Once the system has set up the General Fund use Maintain List of Accounting Funds to add the Buildings and Equipment Fund and copy the account structure as needed from the General Fund into this fund. Then, use Maintain Chart of Accounts to delete the buildings and Equipment accounts from the General Fund. Finally, you will need to input accounting adjustments in Fund Accounting to establish the carry in balances for the buildings and equipment accounts.
