I added a new employee and the system assigned a new employee number. However when I set up the deductions they were added to another employee in the system. How do I get this changed. Any help out there?

Frank,

Just a friendly heads up, you would have gotten a faster reply if you had posted this in the Accounting section of the forum as each area of the program is covered by its own category. That said ... try the following.

Just to make sure, do a 'REINDEX' of the database from the UTILITIES menu. This will make sure the database indexes are correct.

Then go into Maintain employeee pay items section of the Payroll module to remove these deductions from the other employee.

Then find the new employee, using the Locate button and make sure that the person's name is showing, then add the deductions as needed.

Hope this helps.

Reindexing the Accounting module results in the following report:

[i]WARNING: One or more files could not be reindexed. One possible cause of this problem is another user logged into PowerChurch Plus while you are attempting this procedure. Please make sure there are no other users running PowerChurch Plus and attempt this procedure again.

If you continue to get this error message and no other users are using PowerChurch Plus, please contact technical support.

05/18/2009 08:44:20 PM Begin Indexing Accounting
08:44:28 PM Problems with the Chart of Accounts have been detected.
08:44:40 PM End Indexing **************************************************

I suppose you wouldn't have any idea what kind of problems might have been detected, do you? I have no idea where to begin to find any problems.

Oops, I meant to tell you there were none. I'm home alone working on this.

I seem to remember seeing an error like this one previously talked about in the forums. I'll have to do some searches to find it.

There are a number of checks that we are doing during reindex. It looks like you are using either version 9 or an old release of version 10, because there is no specific information in the message. Since the 10.4 update, we have given very specific information in this message on reindex.

Some of the things that we look for are duplicate accounts, "orphaned accounts" (where an account number is found in a posted transaction, close to account, or the setup of another module, but the account doesn't exist in the chart of accounts, invalid posting months (like 0 instead of 1-12), missing closing accounts, etc.

If you have version 10, go download and install the latest Maintenance Release (http://powerchurch.com/mr) and reindex Accounting again.

You can also just give us a call at (800) 486-1800 and speak with a technician about it.

As a final post in this thread, I finally did call the support number and Renee was able to solve the reindexing problem forthwith by some legerdemain involving the database manager via remote access and likewise cleared up a boo-boo on my part in the payroll module involving item numbers. We certainly do appreciate your successful efforts on our behalf.
