I reported at the end of 3rd quarter that for the first time my 941 tax calculations in PC were short. In researching with your help I found that the "round up to nearest dollar" box had somehow gotten changed. I corrected that and thought I would check April reporting. The calculation went from being $3.50 off to $5.15 off. I went through the tax tables and they match the Circular E, no "round ups" are checked the employee and employer social security percentages are 4.2 and 6.2 as they should be, and no Pastor's salaries are included in the wage amounts. I have refigured three times and get the same answers using the Selected Payroll report for April. Any ideas of what else I can check?
Total employee social security/medicare wages come out to:
12217.40 x .104 = 1270.61
12217.40 x .029 = 354.30
Inc Tax Married 811.70
Inc Tax Single 63.02
Total owed 2499.63
PowerChurch calculated 2494.48

Re: V9 941 problem worse! Update
I found $1.66 of the problem in the medicare calculations. The "round up" problem was not corrected before the mid month checks were written. That still leaves $3.48 that I can't account for. Income tax seems okay as does ss calcs. I am stumped.

Re:V9 941 problem!update 2 Reports not matching
I just found that what PowerChurch v9 is reporting as collected medicare tax in the Selected Payroll Data report for April is $3.50 more than what is showing on my Cash Balance report of collected medicare taxes.
I generally have always paid taxes from the Liability Accounts showing medicare, ss and inc tax payable. What could cause the change in reporting amounts? This $3.50 difference and the $1.66 difference I found before, adds up to being spot on what is actually owed. What can I do to get the Cash Management report to balance with the data from payroll?
Thanks.

Re: V9 941 problem worse! Resolved!
Thank you Lord! Again, User error. There is no glitch in the system. The reason the reports didn't match was because of the journal entry correction I made in the first quarter of $3.50. Medicare was off because I inadvertently checked the "round up" box for some crazy reason. The $3.50 was the correction and payment I made. Next month should be back to normal.
Now, perhaps someone can tell me how to correct the journal entry?
Medicare was short $3.50 so my entry was this:
DR medicare 01-2212
Cr checking 01-1111
Unfortunately the debit to medicare account shorted it rather than increasing it. Obviously there is another debit/credit that should be made to this entry. I just don't know what it is. Thanks
