help with updating chart of accounts

How do I delete an account? I am cleaning up the chart of accounts and want to delete accounts that have not been used in several years. When I try to delete it says that there has been activity in the past in the account and it won't let me delete. I don't want to keep all these accounts that are not being used.

You will need to delete old data in order to remove the accounts. What I would do is after the end of the year archive the entire PC+ folder. Because once the data is removed it is not retrievable. Copy it to a folder called PC data prior to 2012 or something like that so you still have that information should you need it in the future. You will be able to run PC+ directly from this folder should you have to and just the pre-2012 data will be available. Then delete the old data in the working version necessary to allow the removal of the accounts you do not want any longer.
