No Record of Checks

We lost nearly two months of information, most of May and all of June. Our vendor records are showing the check number and date paid, they were posted and showed up at the beginning of this week. Today I was going to reconcile June and our records are gone. Does anyone have any ideas what could have happended or how I can retreive the information. We've been encountering little glitches here and there over the last three months, but this one has to be the the worst one yet. Any thoughts would truly be appreciated

Has anyone been restoring backups ??

Are you using two separate machines and two separate databases and restoring from one to the other??
