Reconciling a Saving Account

Post by songbird331 »

I recently closed our savings account from a previous bank and transferred to our current bank. I transferred the funds before I reconciled the savings account. So, I did a REVERSE to correct the problem. Now, to reconcile, it's not in the Savings acct to reconcile...it's in the Checking acct. I've put the funds back in Savings to start over. How can I correct this problem?

It's not quite clear to me what you did.

I think you are saying that your REVERSE transaction was incorrect.

You can REVERSE the first REVERSE transaction, if that was the case.

I closed our savings account and transferred those funds to checking BEFORE I reconciled the savings account (I needed to add the interest gained first). So, I REVERSED it so I could correct the right amount, and when I went to reconcile the 'savings' account it's not there, it's in the 'checking' account.

Then, I think you to do this, if the amount was $10:
CR 01-1110-000 checking $10
DB 01-1120-000 savings $10
