I am setting up my fund accounts. We are using only one checking account with multiple accounts. One of our accounts is in the red. How can I get funds from the general account 01-1110 to the other account 02-1110 to read in a negative amount. I have tried journal entry, must not be doing it correctly. I tried
01-1110 cr
01-3110 db
02-1110 cr
02-3110 db
I came out with the right amount in the 02 account, but not the 01 account and the bank amount 1110 was off also

Let's say you have $100 in your checking account in Fund 01 and $0 in Fund 02. But let's say what you really want is $110 in fund 01 and ($10) in Fund 02. To accomplish this, make the following entry:
DR 01-1110 10.00
CR 01-3110 10.00
DR 02-3110 10.00
CR 02-1110 10.00
You had the right idea--just had your debit and credit backwards for fund 01.

Matt thanks,
let me be more specific; In fund 01 I have $100 and $ 0 in fund 02 what I need is ($10) in fund 02 and cr or db fund 01 to maintain the same balance for the 1110 bank account. I started out with only one fund,
01-110 and then added other funds. So I am moving funds from the
01-110 account to make the balances in the other accounts. Does this make any sense? Will the formula you posted accomplish this?
Thanks Jim

You actually needed to start out with $90 in the 01 fund. Then when you moved the $10 from the 02 to the 01 you would end up with the resuilt you want. ($10) in the 02 and $100 in the 01.
