Upgraded Computer, Slower Program Performance

We have recently upgraded our old computer (P2, 128MB RAM, Windows 98se) to a newer (Core 2 Duo, 2GIGs RAM, Windows XP).

The only hiccup we have since the upgrade is that the 'view posted contributions' module takes about 1:30 minutes to load (whilst the program hangs 'not responding' and half of the screen turns white) and about another 40 seconds to search a specific env. number.

The old computer took about 5 seconds to load the module and about 2 seconds to search for a specific env. number.

Is there any way to reduce the load time? I understand there are many factors that can account for the increase in load time, however all other conditions remain normal except for the upgrade.
I loathe having to ask a member of the congregation to hold for a few minutes because my new computer is loading.

Most likely, you have a conflict somewhere in your antivirus/antispyware/other active scanning software.

Whatever software you have running like this, including search add-ons like Google Desktop or real-time backup software, you must define exceptions for the PowerChurch Plus data file extensions: CDX, DBF, and FPT.

If you are accessing PowerChurch Plus over a network, be sure that all computers involved are set to scan their own files, not network files. This can cause a conflict of antivirus on two machines trying to scan the same file at the same time.

Newer versions of PowerChurch Plus have had to be modified with the way they handle data, due to frequent problems with antivirus, specifically in Windows Vista, causing errors and actually corrupting data files. Unfortunately, version 8.5 has been out of maintenance since 2006 and will not receive these changes.
