I have begun adding 2006 contributions. I noticed that when I run an "Active Pledge Report" that if someone makes a weekly pledge, Powerchurch multiplies that by 53 weeks rather than 52 weeks to get the total amount of the pledge. How come?

I am not familar with how the program handles pledges. However there are 53 Sundays in 2006. That could play a huge part.

Back in about 1988, we had a fellow church member write commands in a DOS program called Q & A to allows us to keep track of contributions. It was a great help as it automated our process and eliminated a lot of hours of work using the columns in a workbook. The issue of 53 weeks was something we had to account for as it happens every so often.

Take care.

Doug is exactly right. Since there are 53 Sunday in 2006, the system will take any weekly pledge and multiply that by 53.

You can adjust this (if you want) in the Contributions Preferences to list the day the pledges are due. The system defaults to Sunday, but you can change it to any day of the week. However, I'm not sure that will do much of anything in this case.

FWIW .. I would just go with the 53 weeks, as they pledged a 'weekly' amount.

We've had a LOT of technical support calls about this. Tech 2 is even working on an issue devoted to this. It's not a bug, or a glitch, or even an issue. Doug and Neil are spot on here.

We've been advising folks to change the day of the week that pledges are due to a day that only occurs 52 times in the year, like Neil has suggested. This actually will make a difference. To do that, just got to File-> Preferences-> Contributions Setup-> Pledges/Statements and select any other day than Sunday in the drop down list.
