Reassigned Envelope #'s and now Pledge info is crossed

I hope I can explain this correctly:

I did some envelope reassigning based on the physical envelopes we have available.

I reassigned #118 to #75, and #75 to #118.

This made Mrs. 118 very upset so I switched her back. However, all her past pledge info now shows on Mr. 75's Statement.

I was able to correct it for this year, and i suppose the only way to correct the past ones is to delete the past years' pledges off Mr. 75 that really belong to Mrs. 118, re-enter them as past pledges for Mrs. 118- but will her past giving history then show up if I do this?

How did this happen, and how can I avoid it in the future??

Thank you

I'm not sure how you moved them around.

The proper way to do this is: (using numbers of 100 and 125)

Change Envelope 100 to a number not normally used: 10100
Change Envelope 125 to 100
Change 10100 to 125.

Did you do this in this way ??

The only way pledge and contribution data could have been merged is if envelope 75 and envelope 118 were under the same family mailing profile when you did all this renumbering.
