higher amount in system than actual in checking account

Post by statetreasurer »

i posted accidentally the wrong amount of a contribution. how do you take it out. i tried reverse but it made a larger amount than what is actually in the checking account. everything reconciled before the mistake; i reversed the transaction again and it made it larger than before. what do i do?

1. How are you reversing the transaction ?? Are you using the View Posted Transactions module's Reverse button??

2. How are you posting Contributions?? Directly from the Contributions module ?? If so, and the Contribution fund is setup to post to the correct bank and income accounts, you shouldn't have to do anything manual in Accounting.

How much activity have you entered since making the original error (posting incorrect contribution amount)? If not too much work has been done, it sounds like it might be easier to just restore a backup made before the error.

(It has taken a LOT of mental work on my part to FINALLY train myself to back up BEFORE I begin ANY significant work in PowerChurch. :wall: )

Still, you will certainly find it very helpful to learn the correct way to handle reversing entries....

Hope this helps,
Eden
*Still* learning... and gratefully so!
