Backing up to Disk

Postby TBM » Thu Jul 01, 2004 10:56 pm

I have always backup to disk with no problem. On several occassions I have attempted to backup all data files and the number of files is 3157 or 1114 which requires two disk. Most of the time the number is 238 and requires one disk. Any reason for the different back up numbers? I am using 8.5

Sounds like you've got a bunch of stuff that doesn't belong there. Look at your PCPLUS85 directory (typically on the C: drive). Check to see how many *.dbf files are in the root of that directory. There should be 11. Then, check inside your data folder. You should have one and only one folder inside there called "pictures." You should also have 111 files in the data folder (.dbf, .cdx, and .fpt extensions only).

Most likely, you will have other folders inside the data folder, and that's no good.
