Trial Balance vs. Account Activity Balance

Post by Pam »

Why would I see a balance on the Trial Balance, but when I pull the Account Activity report for that same account (Net asset), it says I have a zero balance?

Shouldn't they agree?

I am trying to "undo" entries that were made for a temporarily restricted release. I have made all the entries to transfer them to "Pass Through Contributions", but still have one outstanding entry that I am trying to figure out how to post.

It's for $75.00. I need to credit 4814, which is an income account, to bring it to a zero balance.

The net asset account has a zero balance right now on the account activity report, but a $75.00 balance on the trial balance report.

I think this is the correct offset, but I am puzzled why the balance shows
on the Trial Balance, but not on the account activity. If I make this entry, it will show $75.00 on the Account Activity and zero on the Trial Balance.

Can you help me?

Thank you!

You have a $0.00 balance on your "net asset" account. Do you mean specifically "net unrestricted assets", "temporarily restricted assets" or the entire equity group of net assets?

What I am thinking is that one of the detail accounts (net unrestricted or temporarily restricted) may have a $75.00 balance and you are running the account activity on the "other" one.
