Drop Down Menu Issues

Post by tborgal »

Does anyone else have this problem? When clicking on a drop down menu item it does not always appear the first time it is selected. I often have to move the cursor away from the menu item and return to click on it again. Been an ongoing issue for past and present versions - also does it in V11 - I just have not brought it up before. Running V 10.4 latest maint. release on a Dell Dimm 3000 with a Pentium 4 and Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3.

Yes, I've experienced the same thing (v10.4; current MR; Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 on Compaq Presario AMD Sempron(tm) 3000+; 2.00 GHz, 448 MB of RAM). I've also experienced it when closing a report window. Sometimes I have to click twice on the red X before the window closes.

This may or may not be a related issue. I like to use the Quick Tasks feature. I've noticed that when I do a backup of contributions or membership files, then immediately follow with a second backup (to different media), the Quick Tasks window vanishes! I don't recall this ever happening if I back up All Data Files.

Glad to know the first issue is not just me!

I don't know if this is related or not, but I have noticed, since the release of Windows XP, that I have been losing clicks in general, not just in PowerChurch Plus. It seems a change was made (which has gotten worse in Windows Vista and Windows 7) that if the mouse is in motion when you click, the click is most times not registered.

I have had to slow myself down in the last few years, because I am sometimes having to try three or four times to click a button, select something from a drop down list, etc.

Give this a try and see if it fixes your issue: move the mouse to where you want to click, wait a beat, then click. For me, it works every time. I only drop clicks when I'm in a hurry now.

Now that you mention it.... you're right! I have noticed that the problem occurs outside of PowerChurch as well; and that if I slow down, the click is more likely to register. Problem is -- who has time to slow down? (Surely, not you guys!) 8)

OK, that does seem to work better. I have also noticed that if I am accessing PowerChurch remotely it is even worse.

Eden, it sounds like your process has highlighted a bug in the program. This should not be happening. If you can, spell out specific steps that you are able to recreate it and we will get it written up and fixed.

You can send this to my e-mail if you want, by clicking the e-mail icon under my user name and avatar, or just post the info here.
Thanks!

What Eden is talking about just happened to me as soon as I clicked "Backup/Restore". I had done a couple of backups prior to this one so It may have to do with how many times you backup during a session.

Just tried to recreate and could not.
