Hi.

Is there a way to change the font on the checks to make it a little darker.

You would have to modify the check layout to change the FONT and/or add the BOLD attribute to a check item. The instructions on how to do that are contained in this Knowledgebase Article:

Just clicked on it and it opened fine.

I got an error here, too. It says "SQL ERROR"...
