First group header doesn't print

I was trying to create a custom church directory like the standard 2-column church directory that groups the names by alphabet. This is the one that puts each letter of the alphabet as a group header, with the letter in white font on a black box between two lines as a separator.

I got it to work and everything looks shows up in print preview. However, when I print the report, the first group header ("A") is blank. It prints the two lines, but not the A. Any ideas as to how to fix it?

If I recall correctly, place a field in the page header or report header to get this to function. Changing the foreground color to white, or setting the print when property to 1=0 is need on that field to prevent it from printing.
