Trouble exporting report

Post by parkway505 »

Most of the reports I can save export and save to Word or Excel, but the report under Accounting: Fund Accounting: Report: Yearly Budget Comparison freezes up the program every time. I can print it ok, just not export it.
Any suggestions?

Unless you're going to fiddle with the format, export it to a PDF. Otherwise, have you tried RIch Text Format (RTF), from there you can save it as a Word document from within Word.

This problem has apparently not been addressed. It seems that the Budget Report is the only one that does this. When I try to export the budget report to an Excel file I get the following error:

Error: 1440
Method: report_export
Line: 109
MessageL OLE exception error: Exception code c0000005.OLE Object may be corrupt

It then opens Excel with a blank sheet and the following message. PCREPORT.XLS can not be accessed. The file may be corrupted, located on a server that is not responding or read only.

When I close the Excel program I have a window in PC+ headed as "Exporting Records" and it hangs there and can not be cancelled. The only answer to get away from this is CTRL+SHFT+ESC.

I am on a Windows 7 machine using PC+ 11.5

All other reports I tried to export seemed to work fine.

I am attempting to manipulate the data and the easiest way to do this is in Excel.

The original poster mentioned it was the Yearly Budget Comparison. Also, it was in January 2008.

In the latest build of Version 11.5, I was just able to save both the Yearly Budget Comparison and Budget Report to Excel without issue.

In the Install folder inside the PowerChurch Plus program directory, there is a program called PC115FixCR.exe. Run this and it will remove and reinstall the Crystal Reports components. See if that resolves your issue.

That seems to have fixed the problem. I still get a Data May Have Been Lost warning when Excel opens but it looks ok.

That "data was lost" message always pops up in newer versions of Excel. It is the same issue that makes Word documents not open at all. However, Excel just lets you know with that message that basically if the Excel file you just opened had macros in it originally, they were stripped out. Of course, the Excel files that PowerChurch Plus creates don't have macros in them.

Zorak,

Thanks for the explanation of the error message. The question I have is why was the original problem there in the first place? Why should I have had to run the fix? Shouldn't the original installation of 11.5 have done the same thing?

If the fixcr installer resolved the issue, it was because one or more of your Crystal Reports system files had become corrupted or were unregistered. What that install file does is renames the three directories where the Crystal Reports files are installed, then reinstalls them from scratch.

When running the regular program installer, if the files are already in place and are the same version, it does not replace them. Versions 10 through 11.5 all use the same version of Crystal Reports, so installing the update to PowerChurch Plus isn't going to replace the existing Crystal Reports files.
