Tales From Tech 2 - Issue: 12b
Version 8 is flying off the shelves. But look to see if your computer meets the system requirements before you leap into it.As you can see from the volume number above, this is a follow-up to Volume 12.
I wasn't really planning to do a Volume 12B, but since so many people have written and called about Version 8, I just wanted to send you all a quick note to let you know that the system requirements for the program have changed since Version 7. (I guess I should have mentioned this in Volume 12, but with all the excitement of a new release, I just forgot.)
Version 8 requires a bit more computer than Version 7 did. So, before you send in your order, you might want to check and see if your machine is up to par.
Anyway, thinking about system performance reminded me that there wouldn't be an old saying today.
I NEED. I NEED.
Minimum requirements:
- Windows 95 or higher, Windows NT 4 or higher.
- A Pentium class processor.
- At least 32 MB of RAM.
- At least 50 MB of available hard drive space.
- A mouse.
- A color monitor (VGA or higher resolution).
- A CD-ROM drive.
Recommended for better performance:
- A 300 MHz or faster Pentium class processor.
- 64 or 128 MB of RAM.
COMING SOON TO AN INBOX NEAR YOU
At this moment, I'm planning to send out Volume 13 on Friday (barring any Acts of Congress, of course). The reason I'm mentioning it now is just in case any of you were planning to go on a vacation or something. If so, you are certainly welcome to change your plans, if you'd like, because if you like Payroll, you'll really like Volume 13.
A LITTLE BIRD
I just got word from a reliable source that someone here in the office has posted my picture somewhere on our Internet site. Now I have always tried to keep some level of anonymity and even though some of you might think you know who I am, I don't think anyone knows for sure. (And, if you do know, don't tell anyone or I'll send Tech 401K out to get you.)
In fact, I actually may not even be a real person at all or I could be several people. ("You take that back. I am not several people."; "Oh, yes you are. Admit it to them. You are me and I am not you."; "Say what? Don't you dare talk to myself that way!")
Anyway, since I'm not ready to reveal my true identity to you, I will find the information about me that they put on our Internet site and I will take care of the person that put it there. If you think you'll be able to find it before me, you go ahead and try.
