Tales From Tech 2 - Issue: 17.5

I hope none of you had given up on me. I know it's been a long time since the last issue, but I was on extended leave, soaking up some rays on the sandy beaches of Western Paraguay.

As you can see by the volume number, today's issue will be a mini-edition. Basically, in addition to letting everyone know that I am still around, I wanted to let you know how easy it is now to download the latest Maintenance Release to update your copy of PowerChurch Plus.

Anyway, thinking about my Aunt Wilma and her bald-headed llama reminded me of the old saying: A burning bridge gathers no moss.

METAMORPHOSIS

When issues are discovered within the software, they are corrected, and a Maintenance Release is made available as a free download for any user of that version that wants it. When some users experience a problem, their first step might be to install the latest Maintenance Release to see if that takes care of it. Other users just like to know that their software is up-to-date.

Keep in mind that a Maintenance Release doesn't actually contain new features, it just contains corrections to any problems that we discover. It cannot be used to update a previous version of the software nor is it a complete installation. Therefore, you can only download the Maintenance Release for your current version and it can only be installed on a computer that you already have the program on.

MAINTENANCE RELEASE (CODE NAME: RAID)

There is now a direct address where you can go to download the latest Maintenance Release whenever you want. That address is http://www.powerchurch.com/mr/. You can also get there by going to our Web site, accessing the Technical Support section, and then clicking on the Downloads and Maintenance Releases link. On the next page, just choose Maintenance Releases.

When the Maintenance Release page comes up, there will be instructions on how to verify your program date. The most recent program dates for Versions 7 and higher are listed on this page. If your program date is before that date, you can download the current Maintenance Release for your version.

Once you choose your version, you will be asked for some information, including the church's Registration Number and your e-mail address. After you submit this information to us, a small group of trained chickens* will verify it and then they will e-mail you a user name and password so that you can be the proud owner of the latest and best in high tech, high fashion software.

* Please note that no chickens were harmed during their training or during the creation of this newsletter. One yak was popped on the nose with a rolled up newspaper, however.
