I did put a negative amount in the manual check and we can not clear them when we reconcile the bank account. I prefer to do them in AP if possible.

Thanks, I have spoken to another church accounting person and she agrees. I print up payroll ahead of time too, so I don't have to go chasing around for signatures. Posting date should not matter.

I have taken over AP and Payroll for a small church. There is no documentation about policies and procedures.
