unrealized gains and losses on investment account

We will be receiving a large bequest soon and opening our first investment account. how do we account for the unrealized gains and losses reflected on the monthly statement? This is a new restricted fund (building fund) and we intend to use the unrestricted income for operating expenses.

Re: Payroll-can pastor get two separate checks?

Thanks for your quick response! But how do I issue two separate checks through Payroll to the same individual? Do I need to edit the pay items each time I "process payroll", making one item $0 and then process payroll for him a second time making the other income item $0??

Payroll-can pastor get two separate checks?

Our pastor receives a salary, and an additional income item of "housing allowance". He has numerous deductions for insurance premiums, retirement contribution, and voluntary Federal tax w/h. Currently all of this is issued in one paycheck, with all these pay items in one screen. He would like his ho...

Changing chart of accounts

We have been using PC for 6 years, and now realize we could really improve our reports if we reorganized some of the chart of accounts. We use Version 12. I'm not certain if the past history of an account will follow if I change it's number. For example: we have expense account for Phones & Internet...

How to increase a fund balance

I have a temporarily restricted fund 01-3272 that should actually have a higher balance - there is money in a CD that belongs in this fund. The CD of course needs to remain as an open bank account. So to increase the fund balance by $20,000, I know i need to credit 01-3272. But what account do I deb...

How to change a restricted fund to unrestricted

We set up a Repairs Reserve fund years ago and treated it as temporarily restricted. We now realize that as a board directed fund (the board transferred money from the general fund into this one as a rainy day fund) it it not a donor restricted fund at all. I have tried deleting it under the "mainta...

Pastors housing exclusion allowance in payroll

We pay our pastor an "income" item which fits under the PC "Housing Allowance" section in Payroll and works just fine. However, he is also eligible for a tax deduction called "Housing Exclusion Allowance" (section 107 of the IRS code), which does not effect his net pay, but is an annual income deduc...
