Re: consolidating with another church
So it's not the same as combining accounts where all the transactions get moved during the "move" ? Your solution is not difficult and I figured that would be your answer. Just needed to confirm. Thanks.

Re: consolidating with another church
I'm thinking I may want to add fund 03 to track investments and investment interest but I'm a little hazy on how to move the existing accounts into a new fund. I know how to add the fund in "Maintain List of Accounting Funds" but not sure how to "Transfer" existing accounts and then delete them from...

Re: consolidating with another church
We will be in one building, consolidating mid fiscal year. Consolidating a UCC church and Presby church is not a new idea and is becoming more popular in order to survive for the future. The members of the new entity will belong to both denominations simultaneously. The financial books will be combi...

consolidating with another church
Neil, we will be consolidating with a UCC church this year and I'm wondering if it's possible to set up PowerChurch in advance with their account info. We will have one set of books after we consolidate. What is the easiest way to enter their budget categories and then fill in the $ blanks when the ...

Re: Merging with another church
Ok, I get that, but when I transfer the assets to PowerChurch, what does the transaction look like? It’s not like they are coming from a donor. Unless I set their church up as a donor?

Merging with another church
Our church is merging with another, smaller church. We will become a new entity, combining a UCC church and a Presbyterian church, with a new name. We have decided to use PowerChurch and not their version of Quicken. Whew! How do we merge their financials into ours? They have checking, savings, and ...

Re: Project cost accounting
So at the end of the year my project cost overran donations by $25,000. It's a temp restricted account and the $25,000 is carrying over for the 2025 fiscal year. what should I have done to close it out in 2024 so it's zero for the next project? Thanks.

Re: Project cost accounting
I found the problem. The Project expense account was set to close to the "Equity" account instead of 01-3110.

Re: Project cost accounting
Neil, before you spend time answering this, I may have found the problem. I have to run my close to reports and check that each expense account is closing to 3110. I'll post my solution.

Project cost accounting
Neil, I've looked at this until I can't see the forest for the trees. We did a paving project last year for $35,500 and the donations fell short by $25,000. That left our unrestricted net assets 01-3110 in negative territory. We have a positive balance in our check of $40K, but we receive large pass...
