Each month when I print out the Balance Sheet and Income & Expense statements, I have a NET Assets, Excess Income/Expense that is minus figure. I do not know why I keep getting Excess Income/Expense amount which is a negative number. Your help would be appreciated.

Yes this is a new fund and I need to only enter balances to begin this year. I have the chart of accounts setup, but when I go into details in the account to input a balance it will not let me enter a balance.
