1099 MISC
This is my first year doing the books for our Church. I have read IRS information regarding 1099's but still a little confused. Our Church used a local unincorporated contractor to replace the youth hall floors and another contractor to replace the roof. We also had to used a local Plumber for sever...

Pastors Christmas Bonus
I created a Pay Item for Christmas Bonus for the Pastor. The check has now been processed. All the expense and Liabilities look correct. I assume you need to go to Maintain List of Employees and under Pay Item uncheck the Pastor Bonus Item or is this done somewhere else. Do you leave the pay item on...

HA and parsonage FRV
Our Church Board approved $100 per month Housing Allowance for our Pastor and it was set up in Payroll. The Church also furnished a Parsonage and pays utilities for the Pastor and provided him a letter stating the Fair Rental Value of $10,000. I know that the HA will show up in Box 14 of W2 but do w...

Re: Contributions Module
That will work. I will advise board to pay the first $2500 from the donation and remainder from escrow. Thanks for your recommendations. I will ask the board about further training.

Re: Contributions Module
I don't know enough about it to know if I am happy with how I have handled it. The Church lost its Bookkeeper last December and couldn't afford to hire one at that time and asked me if I would volunteer to work 2 days a week to try to learn PowerChurch and handle the books. I'm just trying to work w...

Re: Contributions Module
We do have a Building Fund to track contributions. The membership voted last year to use all contributions to this fund to apply to the principal of the loan. I write a check at the end of each month to the bank for the principal. Also the loan note is through this account and ends the year with a l...

Contributions Module
I'm fairly new to bookkeeping and PowerChurch and not sure how to handle this situation. In our Contribution Module we have Tithes and Offerings, Missions, Youth and a few more items. An individual last month gave $2,500 to help replace the flooring in the Youth Hall. We do not have an item in the C...

Love Offerings for Pastor
Our Pastor is paid weekly through the Payroll Module. Our Deacon Board are considering asking the Church to give a love offering next month for him to purchase a new Laptop. I realize this income will need to be taxed but I'm not sure how or where to reflect it in the Payroll Module or if it goes in...

Re: Bank Reconciliation
I did do a backup and have returned everything back to square one. We have had this $750 in Outstanding Deposits and Additions since 2015. If you do not clear it the difference is 0. I have researched 2015 journals and found that in September 2015 a new pastor arrived the bookkeeper entered the tran...

Bank Reconciliation
Being relatively new to PowerChurch, I'm trying to clear up an item from 2015. The Bank Reconciliation has shown $750 Outstanding Deposits and additions since 2015. The previous bookkeeper made several entries and reversals for this item in September 2015. I have no idea how she ended up with the cu...

Re: Stale Checks
Since I only work at the Church part time as Bookkeeper, I was there yesterday and tried to Void the check for $5.75 that was cut on 9/22/2015. I got a message warning that the check had already been voided. I check the Journal for September 2015 and found where the check was written on 9/22/2015 bu...

Stale Checks
Being new in Power Church I am trying to clean up previous problems. The Bank Reconciliation shows an Outstanding check from 9/22/2015 for $5.75 that hasn't been cashed and previous bookkeeper for some reason never voided. We also have another check dated 11/28/16 for $27.24 that written to the wron...
